Momiji

A Japanese red maple in a misty clearing, rendered in real time with Three.js WebGPU. Thousands of individual leaves fall from the crown, gather on the ground and scatter under the pointer, while a time dial carries the grove from dawn to moonlight.

A living maple

The title burns away into flakes carried by the grove's wind, and the camera flies out from beneath the crown to circle the island.

Leaves underfoot

Every leaf on the ground is simulated. A sweep of the mouse pushes the litter aside and bends the grass; on a phone, a tap scatters the leaves under the finger.

From dawn to moonlight

The same clearing at dawn, in the golden afternoon and by moonlight, when the lantern becomes the brightest light on the island.

The time dial

A dial at the foot of the screen opens into an arc. Dragging the sun along it moves the light, sky and mist through the day.
